BUCHAREST, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Moldova has re-entered a nationwide state of public health emergency beginning Monday in response to increasing COVID-19 patients.

The state of public health emergency, from Nov. 30, 2020 to Jan. 15 next year, was re-imposed as the average daily COVID-19 infections has maintained a high level of over 1,000 since this month.

After lifting its previous nationwide public health emergency state at the end of September, Moldova's average daily COVID-19 cases was 537.4 and 738.6 in September and October, respectively.

Under the state of public health emergency, the organization of scientific conferences, sports events, Olympiads with the physical presence of people is prohibited, along with the closure of theaters, cinemas and concert halls.

At the same time, public catering services such as restaurants, pubs or coffee houses are banned from operating between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The organization of one-off mass rallies and festive events with less than 50 people is still allowed in compliance with public health measures.

Meanwhile, foreign citizens from "red zone" countries are prohibited from entering, with several exceptions, and the wearing of protective masks in all the open and closed public areas is mandatory, especially on public transport.

The Moldavian authorities confirmed the first case of novel coronavirus on March 7 and the country's Parliament declared a state of emergency for 60 days on March 17.

The state of emergency was replaced by a one-month state of public health emergency on May 15, which had been extended several times until Sept. 30.

According to the latest data released on Sunday by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, 1,165 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 107,017 in the 3.5-million-population country.

With 21 more fatalities associated with the virus, the death toll now stands at 2,290, the ministry announced. Enditem
