Brazil's Sao Paulo reimposes tougher lockdown as COVID-19 resurges

SAO PAULO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's state hardest hit by COVID-19, Sao Paulo, reimposed some pandemic lockdown measures on Monday to halt the resurging infection and hospitalization rates.
The move is aimed at improving "control of the pandemic," Sao Paulo State Governor Joao Doria said in his announcement.
Doria ordered shops, including bars and restaurants, to operate with a 40-percent maximum capacity and 10-hour daily time limits, essentially reverting to the restrictions that were lifted on Oct. 6.
Brazil has the world's second-highest COVID-19 death toll and the third largest caseload. Its case number reached 6,335,878 on Sunday, with 1,241,653 registered in Sao Paulo State, the highest number nationwide.
