6.3-magnitude earthquake strikes off U.S. Alaska

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- A 6.3-magnitude earthquake jolted off about 38 km southeast of Nikolski on Umnak Island, the U.S. state of Alaska on Tuesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake took place at 16:22:40 UTC on Tuesday, and the epicenter was at a depth of about 23 km.

No tsunami warnings were issued following the earthquake, according to the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center. Enditem
