QUITO, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador's Minister of Culture and Heritage Angelica Arias on Tuesday presented the 13th International Book Fair of Quito, which will be held virtually, due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, from Dec. 8 to 13.
It has been "a challenge" to organize the literary event in a year "so complex," Arias said at a virtual press conference.
But "it was the right decision" to hold the fair in return for the support that culture and literature have provided people during the confinement of lockdown, she said.
"In the darkest moments of the pandemic, it was a book, art, culture that managed to move us forward," she said.
The 2020 edition of the fair seeks to promote the habit of reading and encourage other forms of healthy entertainment through more than 160 activities, all of which will be broadcast on www.filquito2020.com. Enditem
