BANGKOK, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) said on Friday that severe flooding in southern Thailand killed nine people and another one reportedly went missing, while 91,686 households were affected.

The Royal Thai Army personnel were assisting flood victims in seven provinces to higher grounds.

The provinces include Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Songkhla, Pattani and Narathiwat, all of them located in the Thai South, according to the DDPM.

The DDPM and local governments had been pumping water out of residential areas and been delivering aid packages to flood victims for three days.

The Ministry of Finance said on Thursday that damages to careers, livelihoods, residences, agriculture, livestock and infrastructure would be covered by the ministry.

The critical flood situation stemmed from a series of depressions that have hit Thailand since Oct. 7, generating water runoff in 35 provinces.

Meanwhile, the State Railway of Thailand said train services, especially those running through deluges, would have to be canceled until the flood subsided. Enditem
