PHNOM PENH, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's Ministry of Health on Friday reported that four more people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of locally transmitted cases to 23.
The first community transmission was detected a week ago after a family of six people, who reside in the national capital Phnom Penh and the northwestern Siem Reap province, confirmed positive for the coronavirus. The origin of their infection still remains unknown.
The new confirmed cases were a three-member family including a 3-year-old boy, and a 22-year-old man, the ministry said in a statement, adding that all the infected people are residents in the national capital Phnom Penh.
A contact tracing found that they had connections with recently infected people, the statement said.
It added that the health ministry had conducted 9,793 COVID-19 tests between Nov. 28 and Dec. 3, detecting 23 infections.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in January, the Southeast Asian country has recorded a total of 335 confirmed COVID-19 cases with zero deaths and 304 recoveries, the statement said. Enditem
