PHNOM PENH, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia confirmed two more local COVID-19 cases in the capital, bringing the total number of infected people linked to the first-ever community transmission to 34, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.
The first community transmission was detected on Nov. 28 after six people in a family, who reside in both capital Phnom Penh and northwest Siem Reap province, tested positive for the virus, as the origin of their infection has not been identified yet.
The two new positive cases were found Monday on a 22-year-old man living in the capital's Doun Penh district, and a 35-year-old woman residing in the capital's Meanchey district, the ministry said in a statement, adding that they came into contact with recently-infected people.
"Currently, the two patients have been sent to the Chak Angre Health Center in southern Phnom Penh for treatment," the statement said.
Since January to date, the Southeast Asian country has recorded a total of 350 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with no deaths and 307 recoveries, it said. Enditem
