OTTAWA, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Canada's Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) declined 0.6 percent on a month-over-month basis in November, according to Statistics Canada on Friday.
Excluding energy and petroleum products, the IPPI decreased 0.9 percent in the month.
The IPPI decline in November was due to a reduction in the price for lumber and other wood products.
Prices for motorized and recreational vehicles and meat, fish, and dairy products also fell in November.
However, prices for energy and petroleum products rose 3.2 percent, posting an increase due to higher prices for refined petroleum energy products, especially diesel and biodiesel fuels.
Prices for primary non-ferrous metal products went up 1 percent compared with October, mainly due to increases in unwrought aluminum and aluminum alloys, unwrought copper and copper alloys and waste and scrap of metal.
The gain in the primary non-ferrous metals group was moderated primarily by declines in unwrought gold, silver, and platinum group metals, and their alloys.
Year over year, the IPPI edged up 0.1 percent. Excluding energy and petroleum products, the IPPI increased 3.6 percent year over year. Enditem
