TOKYO, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as the market mood was brightened by the Bank of Japan's quarterly Tankan survey showing that large manufacturers' business sentiment improved for a second straight quarter with further recovery expected ahead.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average climbed 170.73 points, or 0.64 percent, from Friday to 26,823.25.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 21.72 points, or 1.22 percent, at 1,803.73.
Machinery, consumer credit and insurance-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break. Enditem
