BRATISLAVA, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- It took Liptovsky Mikulas 20 rounds in the Slovak ice-hockey premiership Tipos Extraliga to earn its first victory of the season, defeating Miskolc on the road 4-3 on Sunday.

Things looked bleak for Liptovsky Mikulas, like they have in all its previous match-ups in 2020, as the home team of Miskolc, the only Hungarian team in the Slovak league, was leading 3-0 after the first period.

But the visitors unexpectedly rallied with four consecutive goals to turn the game around and take home the first "W" of the season. Besides the four different shooters, Liptovsky Mikulas' 23-year-old Finnish goalie Karolus Kaarlehto was one of the key men on the ice, making a whopping 43 saves on his second appearance in goal.

In another surprising outcome, league-leading Poprad had to bow down before ninth-ranked Trencin 3-2 in a shootout drama after previously winning four straight games.

In the north of Slovakia, Poprad's four-game winning streak came to a surprising end. The home team managed to answer Trencin's two goals from the first period with two of its shots in the second (the league's top scorer Marcel Hascak expanded his collection of goals to 21) but failed miserably in the shootout.

Trencin's Canadian goalie Connor LaCouvee erased all of Poprad's shooters on his debut while his teammates scored three times to earn the 3-2 SO victory.

In other matches of the round, Dukla Ingema Michalovce lost to Nitra 4-2, Banska Bystrica lost to Slovan Bratislava 5-1, Koliba Detva lost to Zvolen 5-4 after two shootouts, and Mikron Nove Zamky lost to Kosice 1-0. Enditem
