TEHRAN -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that his country is ready to re-embrace its nuclear commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal if other parties of the deal uphold their relevant commitments.
"The government would do its utmost so that the burden of oppressive and wrong sanctions would be lifted from the shoulder of the (Iranian) people," Rouhani told a press conference broadcast live from the state TV, urging the incoming U.S. administration to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and implement its commitments under the accord.

KHARTOUM -- Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Monday said the removal of Sudan from the U.S. list of states sponsoring terrorism contributes to supporting democratic transition.
"This decision will contribute to supporting the democratic transition and enhance the opportunities for the success of the transitional period as well as the prosperity of the Sudanese people," Al-Burhan said on his Twitter account.

ALGIERS -- Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced on Sunday that he "will soon return home" from his recovery process in Germany following contracting COVID-19 in October.
The announcement came in a five-minute video Tebboune posted on his official Twitter account, the first appearance of the Algerian President in more than two months.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has called on developed countries to fulfill their climate finance commitments to help developing countries combat climate change.
Hun Sen made the remarks during the Climate Ambition Summit via videoconference on Saturday and his speech was released to the media on Monday.
"We all agree that climate change is real," he said. "Many countries have been impacted directly, including Cambodia that has just recently experienced flooding."

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said on Monday that the city state will make vaccinations free for all Singaporeans and the long-term residents who are currently staying here.
Lee said the government has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for pandemic use, and has accepted the vaccination strategy recommendations from a committee of doctors and experts. Enditem
