Mongolia reports 12 new COVID-19 cases

ULAN BATOR, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia reported 12 more COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing its national tally to 953, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Saturday.

Six of the latest confirmed cases were locally transmitted and detected at the capital city Ulan Bator's Bayanzurkh District General Hospital, and the remaining six are Mongolian nationals who returned home from Europe on a chartered flight from Frankfurt on Wednesday, said Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the NCCD's Surveillance Department, at a press conference.

A total of 513 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases have been reported across the country so far. Meanwhile, 36 more patients have recovered from the disease, raising the total of recoveries to 509, according to the NCCD.

The Asian country has not reported a single COVID-19-related death so far. Enditem
