PARIS, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Skier Jonathan Midol took victory in the men's ski cross at the World Cup in Val Thorens, France on Sunday.

The competition on Saturday was canceled due to strong wind, but both men's and women's events were able to go head on Sunday.

32-year-old Mido, who took a bronze medal at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, led the men's final, followed by Canadian Reece Howden and Florian Wilmsmann of Germany.

In the women's big final, three-time Olympian Fanny Smith from Switzerland finished first with Jade Grillet-Aubert and Canadian former Olympic champion Marielle Thompson trailing behind.

Smith, 28, the bronze medalist at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, took one gold and one silver in the last leg of the World Cup held from December 14 to 16 in Arosa, Switzerland.

The athletes will compete again in Val Thorens on Monday. Enditem
