HONG KONG -- China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Thursday announced stricter quarantine measures for visitors from places outside China as Hong Kong still faced a severe epidemic situation with 71 new cases reported on the day.

Starting Friday, visitors who have been to places outside China over the past 21 days will be put in quarantine for 21 days, instead of the current 14 days, in designated hotels, the HKSAR government said in a statement. (Hong Kong-COVID-19-Quarantine)

ISLAMABAD -- A Pakistani soldier has been killed and seven others were injured in terrorists' firing in Pakistan's northwest tribal district of North Waziristan, the Pakistani military said Thursday evening.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, terrorists fired on a convoy of security forces Wednesday night in Mirali, a major town in North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan. (Pakistan-Attack)

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia reported 1,581 new COVID-19 infections, the health ministry said on Thursday, bringing the national total to 100,318.

BANGKOK -- Thailand on Thursday announced tightened measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, with new cases detected in more than one-third of its provinces.

To contain spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand will adopt different regulation measures nationwide according to risk levels and caseloads, with its 77 provinces classified into four categories, namely the highly-controlled, controlled, under-high-surveillance and under-surveillance. BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN -- Brunei will hold its first-ever China Day cultural carnival as part of the Brunei December Festival as well as an important event of the Brunei-China Year of Tourism 2020.
