KIGALI -- The Rwandan Ministry of Health on Thursday inaugurated a COVID-19 testing laboratory at Kigali International Airport, the country's major airport in capital city Kigali, to ease service delivery for travellers to Rwanda.

"Unlike previously when samples for incoming travellers were taken at designated hotels, all passengers will be tested at the airport and get their results within 24 hours," Health Minister Daniel Ngamije told journalists at the launch event. (Rwanda-Airport-Testing Laboratory)

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks were almost flat Friday morning, as buying driven by overnight gains on Wall Street was offset by Nikkei heavyweight SoftBank Group's plunge in thin Christmas Day trading which dragged down the broader market.

ANKARA -- Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca on Thursday said the first shipment of a Chinese COVID-19 vaccine will arrive Monday and it is 91.25 percent effective in trials in Turkey.

"We are sure that the vaccine is effective and safe for Turkish people," the minister said at a press conference. (Turkey-COVID-19)

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 1,241 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Friday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 54,770.

BOGOTA -- Colombia registered a record 14,940 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 1,559,766, the country's health authorities said Thursday.
