JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin talked on Monday by phone over regional developments.

"The two discussed the situation in Syria, developments in the region and the actions necessary to increase regional stability," said a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister's office. (Israel-Russia-Syria)

TRIPOLI -- The UN-backed second meeting of the Legal Committee of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) was held on Monday.

"The discussions of the meeting focused on legislative and legal foundations necessary for holding the national elections," the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) tweeted, adding the meeting was facilitated by Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Libya Stephanie Williams. CAIRO -- EgyptAir, the flagship carrier of Egypt, decided on Monday to resume its flights to and from Oman.

"The flights, Cairo-Muscat-Cairo, will be resumed starting from Dec. 28 in light of the new instructions of Omani Civil Aviation Authority," the national airline company said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. (Egypt-Flights-Oman)

TEHRAN -- Iran will give a "strong and massive" response to any Israeli submarine in the Gulf, an Iranian security official was quoted as saying by Press TV on Monday.
