NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,244,852 on Wednesday as 20,549 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the data, the death toll mounted to 148,439 as 286 COVID-19 patients died since Tuesday morning. (India-COVID-19)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore started the COVID-19 vaccination exercise on Wednesday morning, with the first batch of healthcare workers at the National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID) getting vaccinated, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

SYDNEY -- A jump of 18 locally acquired COVID-19 cases in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) on Wednesday prompted increased concern with a fresh cluster in Sydney's inner suburbs expected to grow.

ISLAMABAD -- Fourteen people including two security personnel were injured in a hand grenade attack at a security forces' vehicle in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Tuesday, local media reported.
