MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines on Wednesday reported 1,014 new confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, bringing the total number in the country to 472,532.

The death toll climbed to 9,230 after 68 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said, adding that 518 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 439,509.(Philippines-COVID-19)

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's COVID-19 fatalities crossed the 10,000-mark in the past 24 hours after 55 more patients were reported to have died from the coronavirus epidemic, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Wednesday.

SEOUL -- South Korean stocks ended this year's final session with a new closing high Wednesday, keeping the year-end rally for four straight trading days.

NEW DELHI -- India on Wednesday decided to extend the ban on flights to and from Britain by a week beyond December 31, in the wake of 20 cases of new mutated coronavirus strain being detected in the country over the past 24 hours.
