BEIJING -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here that the friendship between China and Africa emerged still stronger from the test of COVID-19 in 2020.

Wang made the remarks in a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency and China Media Group.

"With our shared identity as part of the developing world, China and Africa have the responsibility of advancing the interests of developing countries," he said.

Noting that China and Africa have always shared weal and woe, Wang said their friendship emerged still stronger from the test of COVID-19 in 2020. BEIJING -- The Chinese side hopes that the next U.S. administration will return to a sensible approach, resume dialogue with China, restore normalcy to the bilateral relations and restart cooperation, said Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

"China-U.S. relations have come to a new crossroads, and a new window of hope is opening," said Wang in a recent interview with Xinhua News Agency and China Media Group.

He said in recent years, China-U.S. relations have run into unprecedented difficulties. Fundamentally, it all comes down to the serious misconceptions of U.S. policymakers about China. Some see China as the so-called biggest threat and their China policy based on this misperception is simply wrong. (China-U.S.-Ties)

JOHANNESBURG -- South Africa's Trade and Industry Minister Ebrahim Patel on Friday called on manufacturers and farmers in the country to prepare themselves for opportunities in export markets as the African Continental Free Trade Agreement came into effect Friday.

Patel, while believing the agreement could lead to more employment opportunities, said it could also help manufacturers in South Africa to expand to new markets available in West, Central and East Africa.

"Trade with the rest of the continent is a critical source of output and jobs growth. African countries recognize that industrialization is critical to the development of the continent," he said. (South Africa-AfCFTA) Enditem
