10 injured in fuel warehouse explosion in Lebanon's Bekaa district

BEIRUT, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- George Kettaneh, secretary general of the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC), announced on Sunday that 10 people were injured in an explosion in a fuel warehouse in Al-Qasr in the northern Bekaa district of Hermel, LBCI local TV channel reported.

Kettaneh noted that seven injuries were transferred to nearby hospitals while three people were treated by LRC on the ground.

The local TV channel said earlier that a big explosion rocked a fuel warehouse in Al-Qasr, causing heavy smoke and prompting Lebanese civil defense teams to rush to the area to extinguish the fire.

Elnashra news website reported that the explosion was caused by electric sparks. Enditem
