SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- A 6.1-magnitude earthquake jolted 235 km WSW of Adak in the U.S. state of Alaska at 02:38 local time on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The earthquake took place at 12:38:48 UTC on Sunday, and the epicenter was at a depth of about 17.1 kilometers.
The quake was determined to be at 51.185 degrees north latitude and 179.839 degrees west longitude.
No tsunami warnings were issued following the earthquake, according to the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center. Enditem
