BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Paraguay international striker Lucas Barrios came off the bench to fire Gimnasia y Esgrima to a 2-1 victory at San Lorenzo in Argentina's Primera Division on Monday.
Eric Ramirez put the visitors ahead with a 75th minute header before Angel Romero nodded in an equalizer three minutes later.
Barrios, who replaced Leandro Contin in the 71st minute, struck the winner with a comfortable 89th-minute tap in after he was set up by Matias Perez.
The result lifted Gimnasia to second in the Championship Group B standings, three points behind leaders Banfield with one match remaining.
Meanwhile, Union Santa Fe climbed to second in the Relegation Group A standings following a 3-1 win at Aldosivi.
Mauro Luna struck early for the visitors before Francisco Grahl converted a 78th minute penalty for Aldosivi.
Ezequiel Canete restored Union's lead three minutes later and Juan Garcia put the result beyond doubt with a stoppage-time goal. Enditem
