KHARTOUM -- Sudan on Tuesday welcomed the results of the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit held in Saudi Arabia which ended the rift with Qatar.

"Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been following the ongoing developments and what has been achieved of a breakthrough in the intra-relations of the GCC member states, including the decision by Saudi Arabia to open its air, and land and sea borders with Qatar," the ministry said in a statement. LISBON -- Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa met here Tuesday the President of the European Council Charles Michel, marking the beginning of the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union.

ABUJA -- Six people were killed and nine others injured on Tuesday in a road accident involving a truck and a bus in Nigeria's southwest region.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) told Xinhua that a total of 20 people were involved in the incident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Five victims were unhurt. (Nigeria-Road-Accident)

LONDON -- The number of new daily confirmed cases of coronavirus in Britain topped 60,000 for the first time on Tuesday since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, official figures showed.
