Eritrea reports 82 new COVID-19 cases

ADDIS ABABA, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- The number of COVID-19 cases in Eritrea rose to 1,445 after the Red Sea nation recorded 82 new cases over past 24 hours, the Eritrean Health Ministry reported on Tuesday.

The ministry said 46 more recoveries were reported, pushing the national count 740, according to news reaching here.

The Red sea nation has so far recorded three COVID-19 related deaths since confirming its first case on March 21.

The Eritrean government has implemented a series of measures since the outbreak of COVID-19, including a nationwide lockdown, ban on all non-essential local and international flights as well as banning various trading activities and transactions during the lockdown period. Enditem
