RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Midfielder Yago Felipe scored in second-half stoppage time as Fluminense came from behind to beat defending champions Flamengo 2-1 in Brazil's Serie A championship on Wednesday.

Uruguay international midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta opened the scoring just before half-time at the Maracana when he headed in after Everton Ribeiro's cross took a deflection.

Lucas Claro put Fluminense on level terms, combining with Danilo Barcelos to nod home shortly after the interval.

Felipe swept in the winner in the 93rd minute after Flamengo goalkeeper Hugo Souza rushed off his line in an ill-judged clearance attempt.

The result lifted Fluminense to seventh in the 20-team standings with 12 wins, seven draws and nine losses.

Flamengo remained third, seven points behind leaders Sao Paulo, who earlier missed a chance to move further ahead when they lost 4-2 at Bragantino.

In other matches on Wednesday, Sport secured a 1-0 home win over Fortaleza, Goias won 2-1 at Coritiba, Gremio beat Bahia 2-1 in Porto Alegre and Athletico Paranaense won 2-0 at Botafogo. Enditem
