WARSAW, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski warned his teammates from the club and the national team on Tuesday, saying that "it will be an extremely difficult year and the players should be ready for a football marathon."

Poland's captain had a special year. The 32-year-old won the top scorer's classifications of both the German Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. Lewandowski also collected the 2020 FIFA Best Men's Player of the Year award and the 2019/20 UEFA Men's Player of The Year award. On Saturday the striker received the prize for the Polish Sports Personality of the Year 2020.

In the interview for Przeglad Sportowy, Lewandowski admitted that winning the Champions League was the most important moment of the year 2020.

"After the final whistle, the emotions came out of me, because the dream of my childhood came true. I wasn't even thinking about it, but my body, gestures and facial expressions showed it. The key time was when, after the match against Chelsea, we flew to the final phase in Lisbon. Being there, we were sure from the beginning that we could win the title", the Pole emphasized.

The Bayern Munich forward warned his teammates, saying "this year will be a great challenge for every team. February and March will be extremely difficult. Already at the end of the year, I started to think about it and prepare for this marathon. I'm aware that freshness will be needed not only in the coming months, but also in June, so rotation will be a key factor."

In 2021 Lewandowski aims for a good result at the UEFA Euro.

"Success with the national team would be something great and beautiful. On the other hand, it's such a distant prospect that I don't know if it is feasible. If the fans were proud of how we performed regardless of whether it was sealed with a trophy, it would also be an achievement for me", the captain of the Poland national team concluded. Enditem
