DAMASCUS, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Tuesday kidnapped 20 civilians from a village in Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour, state news agency SANA reported.
The civilians were randomly taken from their homes in the Sajr village in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour, and sent to an unknown location, the report said.
The SDF fighters fired in the air to "terrorize" the people of the village, it said.
On Jan. 4, the SDF captured 19 civilians from three villages in the countryside of Deir al-Zour to unknown locations, according to SANA.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the SDF on Sunday carried out a campaign against corrupt employees in the areas under its control in the northeastern province of Hasakah.
The UK-based watchdog group said 15 people were rounded up and their properties confiscated by the SDF as part of the anti-corruption campaign.
The U.S.-backed SDF controls large areas in Hasakah and the countryside of Deir al-Zour province. Enditem
