SANTIAGO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Colombian coach Reinaldo Rueda has parted ways with Chile's national team amid speculation linking him with the vacant Colombia manager's job.

The 63-year-old led Chile to nine wins, eight draws and 10 defeats in his two years in the role. The Roja are currently sixth in the 10-team South American zone (CONMEBOL) qualifying standings for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

"The Chilean Football Federation (FFCH) recognizes and appreciates the dedication, work and commitment of Reinaldo Rueda," Chilean football's governing body said in a statement on Wednesday night.

"From this moment, the FFCH is free to look for new coaching staff with the objective of qualifying for the World Cup," it added.

According to widespread press reports, the move paves the way for Rueda to take charge of Colombia. The Cafeteros have been without a manager since the dismissal of Portugal's Carlos Queiroz in December.

Colombia are seventh in the CONMEBOL standings, behind Chile on goal difference. The top four teams at the end of the qualifying campaign will earn an automatic World Cup spot, while the fifth-ranked side will advance to an intercontinental playoff. Enditem
