JERUSALEM, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Israel's annual inflation in 2020 fell by 0.7 percent, compared to an increase of 0.6 percent in 2019, the state's Central Bureau of Statistics said on Friday.

The new figure is much lower than the government's annual inflation target of one to three percent rise.

In 2020, significant decreases were recorded in Israel in the prices of fuels and oils for vehicles, as well as clothing and footwear, while the highest increases were recorded in the prices of fresh vegetables and fruits.

In the last five years, between December 2015 and December 2020, there has been a cumulative 0.9 percent increase in inflation in Israel, the bureau added.

Israel's consumer price index (CPI), a major indicator of inflation, decreased by 0.1 percent in December 2020 month on month, after a 0.2-percent decrease in November 2020.

In October-November 2020, home prices in Israel increased by 1 percent compared with September-October. Over the past year, home prices rose by 3.2 percent. Enditem
