British stocks down 0.97 pct Friday

  LONDON, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.97 percent, or 66.25 points, to close at 6,735.71 points.

  AVEVA Group, a multinational information technology company, soared 6.97 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. GlaxoSmithKline and Pennon Group increased by 1.45 percent and 1.30 percent, respectively.

  Anglo American, a globally diversified mining business, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.31 percent. Just Eat Takeaway, an online food order and delivery service, dropped 4.93 percent. DS Smith, a British-based international packaging business, fell 4.69 percent. Enditem
