LA PAZ, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Bolivia's Minister of Health and Sports Edgar Pozo confirmed on Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19, bringing to four the number of President Luis Arce's cabinet who have tested positive.

"I am undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in quarantine at home. My general condition is not bad, but I have to take all preventive measures according to protocol," Pozo told Bolivian radio.

On Dec. 28, Defense Minister Edmundo Novillo tested positive for COVID-19 but was given a medical discharge this week.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Foreign Affairs Minister Rogelio Mayta and Minister of Public Works, Services and Housing Edgar Montano had also tested positive for COVID-19.

The ministry of health and sports has announced that the South American country is experiencing a second wave of infections, which has led to the tightening of restrictive measures and the reinforcing of hospital capacity.

As of Thursday, Bolivia had accumulated 181,016 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 9,530 deaths. Enditem
