Russian freight ship sinks off Turkey's Black Sea coast, 2 dead

ISTANBUL, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Two crew members died and six others went missing on Sunday when a Russian freight ship sank off the coast of Turkey's Black Sea province of Bartin, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Bartin Governor Sinan Guner said that Turkish rescue teams launched an operation soon after the Russian-flagged dry cargo ship named Arvin sank off the Inkumu region, Anadolu said.
Guner stated that there were 13 crew members, all Russian nationals, on the ship, and the rescue teams have so far found two dead bodies and rescued five others.
The cause of the incident was not clear, the agency said, adding that the rescue operation is ongoing.
Anadolu also noted that the Turkish navy is deploying a frigate to support the rescue efforts. Enditem
