KHARTOUM -- The death toll from the armed militias' attack in El Geneina, capital city of Sudan's West Darfur State, jumped to 83, and the injured to 160, at a time when the Sudanese authorities decided to send security reinforcements to the area.

"The death toll from the bloody events in El Geneina, the capital city of West Darfur State, has climbed to 83 and the injured to 160 since Saturday," said the Doctors' Committee of West Darfur State in a statement Sunday. (Sudan-Attack-West Darfur)

TEHRAN -- A senior Iranian health official said on Sunday that Iran has purchased 16.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from COVAX, the state TV reported.

Alireza Raisi, the spokesman for the Iranian National Headquarters for Combating the Coronavirus, said that "we have paid 52 million U.S. dollars to buy 16.8 million doses of the COVAX vaccine for 8.4 million people." (Iran-COVID19 Vaccine-COVAX)

ISTANBUL -- Two crew members died, and six others were rescued on Sunday when a Palau-flagged freight ship sunk off the coast of Turkey's Black Sea province of Bartin, according to Turkish officials.

The state-run Anadolu agency earlier reported that it was a Russian-flagged dry cargo ship with a total of 13 Russian crew on board. (Turkey-Ship-Sinking)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Sunday that the three European signatories of the 2015 nuclear deal, namely Britain, France and Germany, have done "nothing" to protect the deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
