SINGAPORE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.18 percent, or 5.52 points, to close at 2995.92.
A total of 2.93 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.4 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.05 billion U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 287 to 195.
The STI index went down 0.48 percent, or 14.47 points, to close at 2990.4 on Monday. Enditem
