TIRIN KOT, Afghanistan, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- One police officer was killed and four people, including a local radio journalist, were wounded in a motorcycle bomb blast in Tirin Kot, capital of Afghanistan's southern Uruzgan province on Tuesday, the provincial governor confirmed.

"The explosion occurred when an improvised bomb attached to a motorcycle was detonated at midday when highway police vehicles were passing by the area," Governor Mohammad Omar Shirzad told Xinhua.

The wounded were transported to a nearby hospital, he said, blaming the Taliban militant group for the attack. Enditem
