LONDON, Jan.19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.12 percent, or 7.70 points, to close at 6,712.95 points.
Smith & Nephew, a British multinational medical equipment manufacturing company, soared 3.47 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Hargreaves Lansdown and HSBC Holdings increased by 2.76 percent and 2.10 percent, respectively.
Entain, a British sports betting and gambling company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 11.92 percent.
