ISTANBUL -- Turkey has so far vaccinated 1.04 million citizens during the first week of its nationwide mass inoculation program against COVID-19, the Turkish Health Ministry announced on Wednesday.

The vaccination process started across the country on Jan. 14 with the vaccines developed by Chinese company Sinovac.

Over 1 million healthcare workers were among the first group to get vaccinated, followed by citizens living and working in nursing homes, disabled care centers, and care homes. (Turkey-COVID-19-Vaccination)

CAIRO -- Egypt and Qatar agreed on Wednesday to resume diplomatic ties after more than three years of halt, Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif welcomed on Tuesday night his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani's call for dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Iran.

"Iran welcomes my brother FM (Al Thani)'s call for inclusive dialogue in our region," Zarif wrote on social media, official news agency IRNA reported. (Iran-Qatar-Dialogue)

TRIPOLI -- The International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Wednesday said that some 40 illegal migrants have drowned off Libyan coast.
