KIEV, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested 812 million euros (983 million U.S. dollars) in Ukraine in 2020, Ukrinform news agency reported on Wednesday.

In particular, last year the bank launched a joint initiative with the government of Ukraine to improve corporate governance in the public sector.

Some 450 million euros of funds allocated by the EBRD will be directed to the development of road infrastructure in Ukraine. Other areas of the bank's investments were the transformation of the Ukrainian postal operator Ukrposhta, gas production, agricultural development, support for small and medium-sized businesses, and improving the energy efficiency of social infrastructure facilities.

The EBRD is one of the main international lenders and investors in Ukraine. Since 1993, EBRD has invested 14.5 billion euros to support more than 480 projects in the country. Enditem
