BAGHDAD -- At least five people were killed and 10 others wounded on Thursday morning in a suicide bomb attack and a bomb explosion at a marketplace in downtown Baghdad, an Iraqi Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

A suicide bomber blew an explosive belt in Bab al-Sharji area, and a bomb explosion followed a few minutes later, the source said on condition of anonymity. (Iraq-Baghdad-Attack)

ISLAMABAD -- Four soldiers were killed and five others injured in a blast of an improvised explosive device in Sibi district of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, intelligence sources said on Thursday.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon. After the explosion, personnel of the paramilitary Frontier Corps cleared a road for setting up a new check post to nab terrorists and monitor vehicles in the area where they were hit by the roadside planted explosive device, the sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. ULAN BATOR -- Mongolian Prime Minister Ukhnaa Khurelsukh has proposed the resignation of his entire government after two ministers announced their withdrawal, local media reported on Thursday.

His decision is expected to be discussed at a meeting of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Mongolian People's Party. After that, the issue will be discussed at a session of the parliament. (Mongolia-PM-Resignation)

UNITED NATIONS -- China's permanent representative to the United Nations on Wednesday called for efforts to advance the political process in Syria and improve the security and humanitarian situation in the war-torn country.

Ten years after the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, an early political solution and the resumption of peace and tranquility in the country are the common wishes of the Syrian people as well as the global community, Zhang Jun told a Security Council meeting.
