Pakistani FM calls for coordinated efforts to mitigate pandemic's influence

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi called for coordinated international actions, learning from each other's experiences, and pooling resources to respond to the adverse influence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the 17th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting on Thursday, held in a virtual format, Qureshi said that his country is open to share its experience in effectively combating the pandemic, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan.

Qureshi also emphasized the need for COVID-19 vaccine to become easily and equitably accessible to all, the statement said.

He said that COVID-19 outbreak had devastating repercussions on sustainable development and developing countries, and its influence can be mitigated by coordinated efforts.

The Pakistani foreign minister stated that the ACD is a leading platform that has transformed into a robust institutional mechanism for dialogue and discussions among the members on issues of mutual interest, the statement added. Enditem
