BEIRUT, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh said Monday that news and numbers circulating in some media about him transfering money to Swiss banks are "very inflated."

"The governor of the Central Bank affirms that all the news and numbers circulating in the media are very inflated and they aim to tarnish the image of the Central Bank and its governor," a statement by the Central Bank of Lebanon said Monday.

The statement added that Salameh refuses to disclose the numbers and facts that are now in the custody of the Lebanese and Swiss judiciaries.

Some media claimed that Salameh, his brother and an assistant have transferred 400 million U.S. dollars to Swiss banks after a confidential letter was sent by the head of the Swiss prosecution office to Lebanon's justice minister to investigate the transfer of funds from Lebanon's central bank to Switzerland.
