TOKYO, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investors opted to take profits following the Nikkei's 30-year closing high the previous day, with U.S. shares retreating overnight adding to a risk-off mood.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 140.43 points, or 0.49 percent, from Monday to 28,681.86.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 5.95 points, or 0.32 percent, at 1,856.05.

Rubber product, marine transportation and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
