PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's de facto population has risen to 15.55 million by March 2019, up 16 percent from 13.4 million in the 2008 census, according to the final results of the 2019 general population census released on Tuesday.

The kingdom has a male population of 7.57 million (48.7 percent) and a female population of 7.98 million (51.3 percent), the results said, adding that the number of households in the country is 3.55 million. (Cambodia-Population)

BANGKOK -- Thailand on Tuesday confirmed a record daily tally of 959 cases of coronavirus infection, mostly via active testing in Samut Sakhon province, according to the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Of the new cases, 937 were domestic ones and 22 others were imported cases, CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin said at a daily briefing. (Thailand-COVID-19)

MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) of the Philippines reported on Tuesday 1,173 new confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 516,166.

The death toll climbed to 10,386 after 94 more patients died from the viral disease, the DOH said. It added 18 more patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 475,423. (Philippines-COVID-19)

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- Three persons including a deputy provincial councillor were injured as a blast rocked Afghanistan's northern Kunduz city on Tuesday, head of provincial council Mohammad Yusuf Ayubi said.

The blast, according to the official, occurred at around 10:00 a.m. local time in front of Safiullah Amiri, the deputy provincial council, injuring him and two of his bodyguards. (Afghanistan-Blast)
