TASHKENT, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Uzbek government has issued a decree setting up civil border guard detachments to assist border troops under the country's State Security Service, the Justice Ministry said Tuesday.

The civil detachments will recruit citizens between the ages of 18 and 60 who live near borders, the ministry said, adding that they could also work for state troops as public workers on a voluntary basis.

The detachments will help with border surveillance and night patrol, the ministry added.
