BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,689,527 on Wednesday even as 12,689 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.
According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 153,724 as 137 COVID-19 patients died since Tuesday morning.

GENEVA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) commends China for submitting data of its COVID-19 vaccines to the WHO for the Emergency Use Listing procedure, a top WHO expert said on Tuesday.
There are two Chinese-made vaccines, produced by Sinopharm and Sinovac respectively, currently under WHO evaluation, said Katherine O'Brien, director of WHO's Department of Immunization, Vaccines and Biologicals.
The data of the vaccines have been submitted to the WHO, but inspectors on the ground are still in quarantine waiting to go to the manufacturing sites for evaluation, she added.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia has added 11 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, after 12,703 tests were conducted across the country, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Wednesday.
The new cases were locally transmitted. Two of them were found in a bus heading to the western Mongolian province of Khovd from capital Ulan Bator, Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the NCCD's surveillance department, told a press conference.

BEIJING -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson Wednesday said Taiwan authorities created political obstacles to the use of mainland vaccines by the people on the island.
Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said some people in Taiwan continued to fabricate various excuses and lies for refusing to accept vaccines from the mainland. In pursuit of selfish political gains, they are endangering the lives and health of local people.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 559 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Tuesday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 76,429.
The daily caseload rose above 500 in 10 days owing to new cluster infections linked to a Christian missionary group in Daejeon, about 160 km south of Seoul, that has a nationwide network. Enditem
