LONDON, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.30 percent, or 86.64 points, to close at 6,567.37 points.
Pearson, a British multinational publishing and education company, soared 13.97 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Hargreaves Lansdown and British Land increased by 6.30 percent and 5.17 percent, respectively.
Fresnillo, a Mexican-based precious metals mining company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 13.04 percent.
