BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

JAKARTA -- The confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia rose by 13,695 in the past 24 hours to 1,037,993, with the death toll adding by 476 to 29,331, the Health Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the ministry, 10,792 more patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries from the coronavirus epidemic to 842,122.

MOSCOW -- Russia recorded 19,138 daily coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, taking the nation's cumulative count to 3,793,810, the country's COVID-19 response center said Thursday.

The center reported 26,775 recoveries over the past day, bringing the total number of those recovered from the disease to 3,229,258.

TBILISI -- Georgia on Thursday reported 723 new COVID-19 cases, taking its total to 256,287, according to the country's National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC).

Data from the NCDC showed that 932 more patients have recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 246,459.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand reported three new border cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, in addition to the previously reported border related community cases on Wednesday.

The three new imported cases came from Britain and Japan. All have been transferred to quarantine facilities in Auckland, according to the Ministry of Health on Thursday.

JAKARTA -- At least 647 medical workers in Indonesia have died of COVID-19 from March 2020 to Wednesday, the Indonesian Medical Association said on Thursday.

Of the 647 medical workers, 289 were doctors, 27 dentists, 221 nurses, 84 midwives, 11 pharmacists, 15 medical laboratory staff members.

HANOI -- Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam announced Thursday morning that Vietnamese authorities detected 82 more COVID-19 cases from the testing samples of the two previous cases' related contacts.

In particular, 72 people from Hai Duong province and 10 in Quang Ninh province have tested positive for the coronavirus, Vietnam News Agency reported. The cases are yet to be confirmed by Vietnam's Ministry of Health.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally rose to 10,701,193 on Thursday even as 11,666 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours, said the latest data from the federal health ministry.

According to the official data, the death toll mounted to 153,847 as 123 COVID-19 patients died since Wednesday morning.

GABORONE -- Botswana plans to vaccinate every citizen in the nation against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic once available, President Mokgweetsi Masisi said Wednesday.

"The country's real and long term solution in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic is to vaccinate the whole population (of Botswana) against the deadly disease," said Masisi in a video sent out to journalists soon after a closed door meeting with officials from the World Bank Africa.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia confirmed 25 more COVID-19 cases after 15,202 tests had been carried out in the last 24 hours, the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Thursday.

The latest cases were locally transmitted or detected in the country's capital Ulan Bator, Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the surveillance department of the NCCD, said at a daily press conference. Enditem
