RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- A first-half strike from Luiz Henrique handed Fluminense a 1-0 victory at Bahia in Brazil's Serie A championship on Wednesday as the Rio de Janeiro side remained in touch with the top four.

Henrique put the visitors ahead just after the half-hour mark with a low finish on a Nene cross.

The result at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador meant Fluminense moved to within two points of fourth-placed Sao Paulo, who have a game in hand. The Tricolor Carioca have four wins and a draw from their past five matches.

Bahia are 15th, just one point clear of the relegation zone with four matches remaining.

Meanwhile, Goias kept alive their hopes of remaining in the top flight next season with a 1-0 home win over title contenders Atletico Mineiro. Eduardo Cruz netted the winner with a 28th-minute strike after Daniel Oliveira's assist.

Goias are still three points from the safety zone, while Atletico remain third, five points behind leaders Internacional.

In Porto Alegre, Gremio's winless run stretched to seven matches as they drew 3-3 with Santos. Diego Souza, Jean Pyerre and Pepe were on target for the hosts while Kaio Jorge, Arthur Gomes and Madson struck for Santos.

Elsewhere on Wednesday, Corinthians won 2-1 at home to Ceara, and hosts Bragantino overcame Atletico Goianiense 2-0. Enditem
