JERUSALEM, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems will provide the Netherlands' army with active protection systems and electro-optical commander sights, the Israeli company announced Sunday.

The contract, valued at 82 million U.S. dollars, is part of a modernization program carried out by the Royal Netherlands Army.

Under the contract, Elbit will equip CV90 armored combat vehicles of the RNLA with Iron Fist active protection systems and Commander Open Architecture Panoramic Sights (COAPS).

Iron Fist is a lightweight system that uses optical sensors, tracking radars, launchers and countermeasure munitions to defeat threats at a safe distance.

COAPS is a modular dual-axis stabilized sight that facilitates fire control computation and long-range target acquisition in day and night, in both stationary and mobile situations.

Elbit also said it was awarded a 46-million-dollar contract to supply armored personnel carriers to a country in Asia-Pacific.

The wheeled carriers will be equipped with Elbit's turrets, and a range of the company's subsystems. Enditem
