BERLIN, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Eintracht Frankfurt extended its unbeaten run to nine games after Even Ndicka and Andre Silva were on target at the second half to seal all three points against Hoffenheim at the closing of the 20th round on Sunday.
Hoffenheim came off with a good start, whereas the "Eagles" needed some time to gain a foothold into the encounter.
Although it was mainly Hoffenheim in the opening stages, the visitors who opened the scoring with their first chance as Filip Kostic benefitted from Amin Younes through ball to beat Hoffenheim keeper Oliver Baumann from a tight angle into the far post corner with 15 minutes gone.
With the narrow lead Frankfurt controlled possession and focussed on the defense, Hoffenheim was shocked and unable to pose any threat in the first 45 minutes.
However, things changed with the restart of the game as Hoffenheim leveled the scores through Ihlas Bebou, who danced through Frankfurt's defense before drilling the ball past custodian Kevin Trapp in the 47th minute.
Hoffenheim grew in confidence as the clock ticked and missed the chance to turn the tides after Ishak Belfodil pulled wide from a promising position in the 52nd minute.
Just when the hosts were about to take the reins, Frankfurt put the result beyond doubt with two quick goals at the hour mark. Kostic's pinpoint cross into the box allowed Ndicka to nod home the 2-1 lead before Kostic's second assist found Silva.
The third goal broke Hoffenheim's resilience and wrapped up all three points on the road.
With the result, Eintracht Frankfurt cement its fourth place in the Bundesliga standings while Hoffenheim remain in the 12th spot.
"We have quality up front and score the goals at the right time. We play great soccer at the moment," Frankfurt defender Martin Hinteregger said.
Elsewhere, the second match of the day, Arminia Bielefeld against Werder Bremen, has been postponed due to wintry weather conditions. A new game date will be scheduled and announced shortly. Enditem
